The Black Cat – Edgar Allan Poe
The Black Cat is a short story written by Edgar Allan Poe which was published in 1843. The story explores many of the same dark themes such as murder, guilt, and insanity that Poe covers in many of his other short stories such as The Tell-Tale Heart, The Fall Of The House Of Usher, and The Cask Of Amontillado.
Just like The Tell-Tale Heart, The Black Cat is a first-person narrative from the point of view of the murderer. It is also similar to The Cask of Amontillado in that the murderer hides his victims behind a wall. The story also explores the horrors of alcoholism and how it can affect someone and drive them to madness. Download a free copy of The Black Cat PDF by clicking the button below.
P.S. This story is not for the faint-hearted and I would not recommend reading it if you love animals or are easily upset!
